Flowers in the wild

Flowers in the wild Spring is finally coming. In less than two weeks weather changed from snow up to +18’C, haven’t seen such a rapid change in a while. Usually we have at least a couple of week with +15’C to get used to it, and by the beginning of April it’s warm and trees are green, but not this year, i guess. Living in a steppe zone is much like living in savanna – you see dried yellow grass all the time – if not for the spring. Usually, before the summer heat eradicates anything alive and green, there’s maybe a month or sometimes two when steppe is blossoming with all kinds of flowers. I’ll post photos of it later, and today let me share picture of the few first wild flowers this land sees in the spring. All the photos in this post were taken by me on different occasions in different times. Some date back to 2006, actually. You can find more photos in my new DeviantArt account, i try to fill it up with stuff.

The first picture is a wild crocus, they start blossoming as soon as snow is gone. Then, a couple of weeks later wild irises sprout up in small ravines and between stones, where they are sheltered from wind:

I’m not sure what is the name of the flowers in the header image, but they are quite common around here:

Lilac should be blossoming in May, but last January was so warm that lilac bushes and some daring trees sprout green leaves, and then winter came with lots of snow and –25’C, so I’m not sure what’s going to happen to all these bushed. I hope they survived the winter, i really love lilac blossoms.
